“While we are making progress against our strategy, our overall headcount and expenses have outpaced the growth of our business,” eBay CEO Jamie Iannone said in a letter shared with employees.

“To address this, we’re implementing organizational changes that align and consolidate certain teams to improve the end-to-end experience, and better meet the needs of our customers around the world.”

The eBay layoffs come amid a wave of tech layoffs in the United States after businesses, including giants like Google and Amazon, employed a lot during the epidemic.

Iannone stated that the firm would reduce the number of contracts within its alternative workforce and also the job layoffs throughout the next several months.

Furthermore in February last year, eBay said it would lay off 500 workers worldwide, or 4% of its staff.
