HRD Awards 2023 honored 44 remarkable business leadersAt the Human Resources Development Awards 2023 (HRD Awards 2023) held on 31 October, the accomplishments and efforts of 44 business leaders who excelled in human capital development at the national level were acknowledged.

Reported by Bernama, the Human Resources Minister Award for large enterprises and the HRD Corp Awards for SMEs, trainers, and training providers comprised the three main categories of the awards.

The Excellence Awards, which recognize excellence in training innovation, technical and vocational education and training (TVET), talent management and leadership, future skill, graduate development, learning technology, sustainable development goals (SDGs), human resources team of the year, and human resources icon of the year for public and private sector icons, are a new category this year.

Maybank, Petronas, Pos Malaysia, Indah Water Consortium (IWK), Revertex Malaysia Sdn Bhd, and Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd were among the night’s most outstanding winners in several categories.

In addition, Ghanim Al Muftah, a caudal regression syndrome-affected philanthropist and businessman from Qatar, received a Special Award for his inspirational and uplifting work with disabled communities globally.

The HRD Awards, according to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, are an excellent venue for recognizing businesses that have been proactive in providing their staff with training but have also developed creative strategies to improve their people’s management practices.

“It serves as a yardstick to measure the capabilities of our workforce against the global talent pool, underlining Malaysia’s commitment to steering the growth of human capital development across the ASEAN region.

“Looking ahead, I firmly believe that there are boundless pathways and avenues to acquire new knowledge for those with a dedicated mindset. Therefore, it is imperative that we continuously strive to improve ourselves by harnessing multiple avenues to unearth the diverse strengths of our people,” he said in his opening speech at the award ceremony.

In addition, Fadillah commended HRD Corp and all of the competitors for their commitment to bolstering Malaysia’s ecosystem for human capital development.

Human Resources Minister V. Sivakumar added that by highlighting the significance of cultivating a culture of learning, development, and also continuous improvement, HRD Corp. is honoring and supporting excellence in the workplace. The awards are a monument to that commitment.

Deputy Minister of Human Resources Mustapha Sakmud and CEO of HRD Corp, Datuk Shahul Dawood, were also present at the ceremony.

Under the direction of the Ministry of Human Resources, HRD Corp. launched the HRD Awards in 2001.

It was created to recognize employers, training providers, and trainers who have excelled in their industry and become leaders in the nation’s innovation and human capital transformation initiatives. The goal of this initiative is to celebrate excellence and innovation in the field of human resource development.
