Part-time government worker pleads guilty to concealing 15 briberyIn the sessions court here today, a former part-time government agency worker was charged with 15 counts of concealing bribery totaling RM9,700 that he received three years ago.

According to Bernama, Rozairi Ismail, 33, of Felda Jengka 13, Maran, close by, entered a guilty plea to all charges before Judge Ahmad Zamzani Zain.

He was accused of receiving RM200–RM3,000 between 24 July 2020 and 2 January 2021. He got paid from two people for government project knowledge while on duty in Johor.

The charges are laid out in Section 25(1) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009. Which stipulates that a conviction carries a maximum penalty of RM100,000 in fines, maximum 10 years in jail, or both.

Zamzani granted Rozairi bail of RM13,000 in one surety on all charges and set 29 November for evidence and sentence.

In addition, Rozairi was told to turn in his passport to the court. He also needs to show up every month at the Putrajaya MACC office until his case was resolved.

Nur Zahida Ruzi, MACC’s deputy public prosecutor, informed the court that the prosecution would request a relocation from Shah Alam. It is where the accused’s ongoing related issue was to this court.

Rozairi would be charged in the Shah Alam court the next month, Zahida informed the court.

During mitigation, Rozairi’s counsel, Shuhairil Ziqrul Sapi, stated his client was unmarried. He earned RM1,200 per month as an e-hailing driver and attending a public school.

“My client wants to plead guilty to all the charges, including the ones facing him at the Shah Alam court,” he said.
