Best Cities For Workcations: Barcelona, Toronto and Beijing

According to research by IWG, Barcelona, Toronto and Beijing are the top three cities in the world for hybrid workers to visit for workcations.

These countries were compared across nine key criteria where cities were marked out of ten for climate, culture, accommodation, transport, food & drink, happiness, broadband speed and availability of flexible workspace.

With a vibrant cultural scene, breathtaking architecture and a year-round sunshine plus excellent transport system with relatively low cost of living, Barcelona has become a recent choice for digital nomads seeking a perfect blend of work and leisure. Toronto, on the other hand, gained scores in terms of accommodation, happiness and comfortable working conditions.

Beijing scored an impressive score of 57.5 out of 90 for culture, accommodation and transport costs. The city is a wonderful blend of traditional and modern elements with a world-class art scene and numerous galleries are all drawing travelers to the city. 

Hong Kong ranks 22nd following other cities such as Jakarta (9th), Manila (13th), Mumbai (18th) and Singapore (21st). Affordable transportation and high speed internet are the city’s most significant advantages. The main reason these cities were ranked higher was due to geographic location with world-class airports and a great international network for hybrid workers to connect.
