Tesla will set up its first headquarters and service center in Cyberjaya, Selangor where it will serve as the central hub for all corporate operations, marketing and training.

Tesla Sdn. Bhd. (Tesla), a multinational American electric automatic transmission is excited to announce its expansion into the Malaysian market. Furthermore, this expansion is a direct response to the Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) Global Leaders initiative introduced by the Ministry of Investment, Trade & Industry (MITI).

Key Highlights of Tesla’s operation in Malaysia:

1. Vehicle Transportation

Tesla is committed to introducing its cutting-edge technology of electric vehicles such as their Model 3 and Model Y to Malaysian consumers. Therefore, the company aims to cater to the diverse needs and preferences of Malaysians. Meanwhile, fans are now given access to its official website to place orders for the announced models. Also, their Model Y is already available on the website priced from RM 199,000.00. 

2. Supercharger Network

To address the crucial aspect of charging infrastructure, Tesla will invest significantly in setting up a network of fast-charging and regular-charging stations across strategic locations around Malaysia. As a result, this initiative is aimed at providing EV owners with a seamless and convenient charging experience, encouraging Malaysians to adopt EVs. 

3. Head Office & Service Centre

Tesla is set to establish its advanced headquarter and service center in Cyberjaya, Selangor. Next, this office will then serve as the central hub for corporate operations such as marketing, training, customer support activities and vehicle services. Furthermore, it is equipped with advanced diagnostic tools and staffed with highly trained Tesla technicians to offer prompt and reliable after-sale services to customers.

4. Experience Centre

Tesla will establish its experience centers in metropolitan areas across Malaysia. Consequently, this is where customers can explore and experience the newest electric vehicle models first hand. Furthermore, these centers will serve as interactive spaces for potential customers to gain insights into the benefits of electric vehicles and receive personalised assistance from the brand’s sales representatives.

PRODUCT LAUNCH

Tesla had their first office product launch event at the Pavillion Mall, Kuala Lumpur on Thursday 20 July 2023. Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Lim Bee Vian and a team from The Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) also attended the launch event. 

The Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), YB Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Aziz has said “We are grateful Tesla has chosen Malaysia as one of its destinations for the Southeast Asia expansion plan. Above all, their immense commitment to sustainable mobility is closely aligned with Malaysia’s vision for a much greener future and our New Industrial Master Plan 2030’s push for net zero.” 

“MITI is focused on transforming our industrial and investment landscape to not only attract companies like Tesla to help enhance our domestic suppliers’ position in global value chains. As a result, it is opening up new ‘greener’ economic opportunities and creating higher-paying jobs for Malaysians. In addition, the company’s presence here will tremendously help raise Malaysia’s pro-business and pro-investment credentials on the global stage. To sum up, we look forward to welcoming more multinational investors that are interested in a more sustainable and inclusive economic growth for our nation.

Additionally, Tesla’s Regional Director, Isabel Fan said that “Tesla’s mission is to accelerate the world to transition to sustainable energy. Furthermore, as a part of the company’s commitment to Malaysia, we have given a detailed development plan for their infrastructure in the country, aimed to delivering a seamless Tesla ownership experience.
