A total of 29,000 graduates in Malaysia remain jobless half a year after their graduation.
According to Minister of Higher Education Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, the number is based on official data from the graduate tracking system issued by the ministry.
He said, the number of graduates who have not found a job after six months of graduating in 2021 is 41,467 or 14.5% of the 286,299 graduates.
The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) takes the marketability of graduates very seriously and there is no denying that the number of graduates in the country is increasing every year.
However, Mohamed Khalid said the unemployment rate of graduates has decreased to 3.7% in 2022 compared to 4.1% in 2021.
He added that his side acknowledged that there are many postgraduate holder who have not yet found employment.
This is because those with postgraduate do not have many research centers or institutions either at the government or private level that offer employment.
However, the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) has continuously implemented initiatives to ensure that diverse talents and skills can be given to graduates in this country.
