19-Year-Old Employee Allegedly Cooked Alive Inside a Walk-In OvenWalmart Canada and Halifax Regional Police officials are keeping quiet about the specifics of what transpired after a 19-year-old employee passed away at a Halifax Walmart over the weekend.

At approximately 9:30PM on Saturday, police were initially summoned to a Walmart on Mumford Road in response to a complaint of a “sudden death.”

According to the force’s Monday report, a 19-year-old woman who worked at the store was discovered dead.

Police stated that investigators are closely collaborating with occupational health and safety and Nova Scotia’s medical examiner to ascertain the “cause and manner of the death,” but they did not provide any other information regarding the circumstances surrounding the death.

The incident concerns a huge bake oven that was operating at the time, according to multiple sources who spoke to Global News.

Neither Walmart Canada nor the police will confirm to Global News any information regarding what happened, including the location of the woman’s body or any references to an oven.

Walmart was working with the authorities, according to a Walmart spokesman, and “we cannot provide any additional information out of respect for the associate and their family.”

“We can’t confirm or share any additional details outside of our statement at this time,” Walmart said when asked in a follow-up about the large scale oven.

Walmart did not specify when the store will reopen, but it did confirm that it would not be accessible to the public on Monday.

On Sunday, the business was closed, and on Monday, it will be closed to consumers once more.

Yellow caution tape had been put up in front of the Walmart on Monday, and a police cruiser was still there.

There was also a notice that read, “Sorry, we’re closed.” Customers were turned away by security guards at the Walmart when they arrived to shop.

Police had asked residents to avoid the area the day before as they carried out their investigation.

On Sunday, several police vehicles stayed at the Walmart all day.

“We are heartbroken and our deepest thoughts are with our associate and their family. We extend our sincerest condolences to those who were closest to them,” the Walmart spokesperson said.

“We’re also supporting our associates during this incredibly difficult time and have provided access to 24/7 virtual care and will provide on-site support, including grief counselling.”

The 19-year-old victim was a Sikh, according to the Maritime Sikh Society, which informed Global News that they will do everything in their power to help the family.
