According to Transport Minister Loke Siew Fook, the guy who allegedly attacked a foreigner at KLIA’s Not to Land (NTL) holding lounge has been suspended from his position.
He stated during a news conference in Parliament that the man works for AeroDarat Services Sdn Bhd and not Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB).
According to Loke, Malaysia Aviation Group, the parent company of Malaysia Airlines, uses AeroDarat as a ground handler.
According to him, it is the responsibility of airlines to return passengers who have received NTL alerts to their original site of departure, as is customary in all international airports.
“The staff said he was provoked by the passenger. We understand that travellers can be rude sometimes, but whatever it is, we cannot defend the staff’s action,” Loke added.
“He is serving as a staff at one of our airports, (so) he has to act professionally at all times. He has been issued a show cause letter and has been suspended pending the ongoing investigation.”
An officer was observed striking a foreigner in the face inside the NTL holding room at KLIA earlier today, according to Malaysiakini.
A three-second video of the incident, which is thought to have happened on November 11, was included.
Travelers who have a criminal past or who do not present necessary documentation, such as visas, return tickets, evidence of accommodation, or the ability to pay for their own expenses while in the country, may be issued NTLs by the immigration department.
