Prime Minister to table Budget 2025 this afternoon

Prime Minister to table Budget 2025 this afternoonBudget 2025 will be presented by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in the afternoon of Friday, October 18, at the Dewan Rakyat.

It will be the last budget under the 12th Malaysia Plan (2021–2025) before switching to the 13th Malaysia Plan for the following five years. It will also be the third budget under the Madani government, which is led by Anwar.

At 4PM, the Budget 2025 presentation will be streamed live on social media and local television stations.

As stated in the pre-Budget 2025 statement posted on the Finance Ministry’s dedicated Budget website, the main tenets of the Madani Economic Framework—”Raising the Ceiling,” “Raising the Floor,” and public sector reform and good governance—will be the focus of Budget 2025.

While the ‘Raising the Floor’ pillar aims to raise the standard of living for Malaysians by guaranteeing equal opportunities, a respectable standard of living, and social protection for all, the ‘Raising the Ceiling’ thrust seeks to restructure the economy and increase the country’s competitiveness, positioning Malaysia as a leader in Asia’s economy.

In order to ensure that Malaysia’s stated objectives may be met, the pillar of good governance and public sector reform seeks to give transparency, efficiency, and accountability in government top priority.

According to a Facebook post on October 7, Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, stated that the government’s efforts to realize the Madani Economic Framework’s objective are being continued with Budget 2025.

In order to guarantee that the rapid economic growth is distributed fairly among the populace, the prime minister said that more structural economic changes would be included in the budget.

The official Parliament website’s schedule states that the Supply Bill 2025 will be discussed at the policy stage for eight days commencing Monday, October 21, and then there will be a four-day ministerial response session starting on November 6.

Before the bill is put to a vote by the Dewan Rakyat, members of Parliament will discuss it for 12 days beginning on November 13 at the Committee stage.
