Before presenting the 2025 Budget, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is likely to announce that over 21,000 civil servants in Selangor will receive wage increases.
The salary rise, according to Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, would be contingent upon the federal government’s stipulated amount, reported by Bernama.
“We will follow (the Federal government) and see how much the hike is. With the amount of reserves that we have, we can give (salary hike),” he said when met by reporters after the Selangor civil servant monthly assembly and the state-level launch of the Fly the Jalur Gemilang campaign.
On 3 May, Amirudin reportedly stated that the Selangor civil servants’ pay adjustment would take effect following the state government’s receipt of a federal government circular requesting an increase in the pay.
Before this, the prime minister would reveal the new increase in pay for civil servants before the October 2025 budget tabling.
The last salary raise for civil servants came into effect in 2013, accounting for nearly 13% of the total.
The prime minister announced a pay adjustment for civil servants on 1 May. It marked the largest compensation boost in the nation’s history and one that increased pay by over 13 percent.
