The world’s largest distribution hub for the well-known Japanese home goods retailer Daiso will be built in Port Klang.
As reported by Kosmo!, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, Menteri Besar of Selangor, said the construction demonstrated the company’s faith and confidence in the state administration.
He stated that the 156,927 square meter hub will be finished in 2027.
“This is a continuous effort coordinated by Invest Selangor for several years.
Previously, he witnessed the signing a letter of arrangement (LOA) between Daiso Group Malaysia, Kajima-Sunchon, and Sunway Construction Sdn. Bhd.
Daiso’s investment, according to Amirudin, will further promote Selangor’s economic cycle.
He also stated that discussions were made to determine the possibility for local enterprises to enter the Daiso sector.
“However, because Daiso has over 5,000 outlets worldwide, from South America to Southeast Asia, we must choose from the quality and capabilities of (local companies).”
“So, when Daiso entered the market, it entered the world-class market,” he explained.
Amirudin said logistics hubs are nothing new in Selangor, citing the state’s status as the third location for an IKEA distribution center.
“However, Daiso’s entry is a greater ‘level’ because it is Daiso’s largest distribution center worldwide,” he stated.
